I don't have this particular one but the NXT Paper 11 I have is great. The matte screen and paper display mode kind of set it apart from other generic tablets if you use it for reading. Much electronics is made in China, whether it's good or bad depends on price and engineering invested into it. If you buy cheap stuff you get cheap results but if you pay more then you get better results.

Why do youtubers give it glowing reviews?
On the minus side the TCL website says this comes with Android 14, where as current android version is 16. https://www.tcl.com/us/en/product...xtpaper-14

Bought it to use for sheet music/reading. Also streams pretty nice tbh and for $300, I'm not expecting something amazing.

youtubers are shills. they get free products and are pressured to give good reviewed to continue to get products to review. no company is going to give a youtuber a free product if that guy craps on everything he's given

I got the Nxtpaper 10 from the ST deal. It's a nice tablet for $60; I really enjoy using the color paper mode daily for browsing and SD.

However, as a cautionary warning, the OS is extremely locked down from ADB. If you never heard of ADB, then no biggie. But if you want to tweak the OS and uninstall bloat, forget about it. Hell, it does something I haven't seen any other device do before; automatically reenabling certain user disabled apps on reboot. There are no TCL provided windows drivers and no user provide ROMs. So you are limited to whatever TCL provides in the near future.
