From the other post a few days ago but it makes good sense, Alf just for whoever will purchase these used: "Bought used AirPods Execellent Condition from Amazon before. Unfortunately, bad actors replaced the AirPod with a fake AirPods and returned it. Amazon gave a full refund without any hassle, but beware and make sure you check ins and outs of AirPods when you receive them. The fake ones are so close to the real ones now that it's hard to detect. But you'll eventually see nothing can match Apple quality if you look close enough."

They also don't check for item swaps. Not sure if people switch non-ANC Airpods for the ANC version, but I bought a Touch ID keyboard from Resale a few days ago and I received the non-Touch ID version in a Touch ID box.

People are jerks.

Amazon has no clue on how to differentiate fake items. You won't know if someone returned these and replaced it with fake ones. Pass!

Just bought one but this review worries me. Should I cancel? Amazon does not check returned items at all? Sometimes when I buy new items from Amazon, I end up getting a returned one too.

Airpods are great, obviously. But not these ones. I bought them "used--like new" through amazon resale, but they are still paired to the old owner's account, and I'm getting notifications that they're able to track my location through FindMy. Apple has confirmed that there's no way to remotely release the airpods from the original owner's account, so I suspect they were stolen from that guy.

A lot of people also don't know or think to remove these items from their apple accounts before returning them. I'm in the business and if I would tell people to unpair their devices before turning them in, 75% would still be linked to them. (This number is low because it include iphones and Macbooks which they only worry about their data being on).

I don't think there is a way to differentiate them just from looking at them. You'll see the ANC option in the AirPod settings if available. The case on the ANC version has a speaker and wireless charging.
