Not true in my case, I am happy with it on the mac, the only thing is that the connection breaks during heavy sustained torrents, and the port forwarding number changes.

Split tunnel is absolutely broken and this is heavily documented on /r/privateinternetaccess by legions of Mac users..
I was chatting with a rep and he had me sign up for a new account and merged it to my old one. worked like a freaking charm!!! so happy I'm set for another almost 4 years!
