No. Not through the official software at least. I've read that you can force it through some third party apps, but I've never bothered to try. I use One SLs for surrounds, they're cheaper on sale than these Roams. Way better sound quality too.

based on what I've heard from others about sonos making their older hardware unusable through updates I will never buy a sonos speaker

Nope. You can still use all the old stuff with the S1 app. They have a new app S2 for the new stuff. Old hardware is just too basic for all the new features of 2025, dolby atmos, spacial audio etc, and can't run on the new app as it requires more memory and better processing. I have fifteen year old speakers that run on the new app just fine. Misinformation is the rule these days unfortunately, but hey AI is here to save us from that, ha. With these sale prices their Black Friday sales should be abysmal

I despise this speaker; advertised to sync up to my soundbar and it's always hit or miss. Works about 25% of the time and it dies so fast. I was very disappointed.

Roam is a pretty lame speaker (have one) and once I got a Move2 I never listen to it anymore.

I think one of the selling points for Roam was to allow people (like a guest) to connect to the Roam via Bluetooth and have it play on the whole Sonos system. I didn't buy one, but that is what I read.
