I've done this once before with a 3kg spool. Honestly it's not worth it, especially with something cheap like PLA where the savings are so small. It's a PITA to respool, and not worth saving a couple dollars.

Thanks for taking the time to chime in with your experience, saves me an unnecessary headache! I like Sunlu but frankly this is pennies difference from the 1kg rolls so just not worth it. Much appreciated!

I have bambu A1 combo. for these would I need to print a spool holder and manually load/unload since it wont fit ams? So mostly for single color prints?
