If you want to take notes or annotate but don't want to spend $70 on the official Stylus, these work with Metapen styluses.

Do you want to read ebooks? Kobo
Do you want to take notes and/or use apps? Boox
Kobo can also take notes, but not as well as Boox. Boox can read ebooks using apps, but not as well as Kobo.

I'd been waiting a long time. I actually bought one from Blue Proton on Amazon recently and they price adjusted. Shipping was quick too.

This post reminded me that I need to get another Kobo Sage... I got one on launch a few years ago, use it every day/night, and it has been awesome. I have worn out several Kobos over the years, not that they weren't still useable when I replaced them, but I appreciated the improvements as the generations have come out... the ones I can remember are the Touch, Aura HD, Aura H2O, Aura One, Forma (I have 2 of these, 1 still new, picked up as a backup because it was a slick deal), and finally the Sage. Before Kobo I use Sony eReaders, they were little aluminum tanks, the PRS-505, 700, 900, 950, etc.

Anyway, I like the Sage enough that I haven't really kept up with newer eReaders releasing, it already has more features than what I use, I only care that it is backlit, 8" screen with 300ppi that looks amazing, fast page turning, and it is light and easy to hold one handed(including page turns) while reading in bed. The only thing worse on Sage vs. previous models is the battery life isn't great, but it still lasts quite a few hours, and USB-C make charging convenient, even while reading.

So... guess that isn't happening, the Sage is sold out every where and is being scalped for $400 to $600 (vs. MSRP of $219-$269), and most of those are USED.

So... I guess this is the closest replacement, 7" instead of 8, ordered one in white which is a first, I only ever remember black being an option, might be a nice change, like I will be able to see it better if it falls behind the bed Big Grin. I don't really care about color as I only read print only novels (with an occasional illustration, which are usually B/W etchings I think), but I guess the book covers will look better? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the post OP, Kobos rarely go onsale unless they are being discontinued or are refurbs.

I've been out of the e-reader world for a while. How is this compared to the Libra H2O? I have one of those, and generally like it, but it's really slow and sometimes clunky. Is the processor/UI improved? It looks like they've kept the same basic form factor, which I like. I'm a fan of physical page turn buttons.

The Colorsoft is a great deal and you can get an additional 10% off of it using the code "GETKINDLE10" to go with the visa cb, trade in gc + 20% new kindle coupon. The build quality on the Colorsoft is great too. As for what it lacks compared to the Kobo here, well this one has physical buttons which is absolutely wonderful. I want another Kindle device with them, but just haven't seen it since the Oasis. The Kobo can use a stylus to allow you to write and take notes as needed. Seen a few folks use this for textbooks and studying if you want to do that. The Kobo can do epub, .PDFs and Amazon books with a drag and drop. Amazon can do them with use of their transfer app which can be a little more tedious. I have not confirmed this one, but I was told that you can have multiple library cards on the Kobo in order to check out ebooks from your local (or any) library easily. However on the Amazon device you may only have access to one at a time. If you want some of these features or think you may, Kobo it. Otherwise the Kindle colorsoft has a great build and I can be half the price with all the stackable discounts.
