I did notice the ANC to be slight letdown in comparison in two fronts:
1. ANC not as strong as XM5 that I tested at the store (no XM4s at store to compare)
2. ANC on BoseQC creates a weird high altitude pressure type feeling which I do not like. I don't remember that with XM5.

I can also say I wear my xm3 and xm4 at least 8 hours a day M-F for over 5 years and have never felt discomfort. I forget they're on.
How does the XM4 compare to the XM3?

1. I absolutely hate the touch controls. They're not intuitive. Maybe if I wore them every day I could remember what motion triggers which action, but I only wear them when traveling. They're also simultaneously too sensitive and not sensitive enough. The hood of my jacket can brush them and trigger some action. But if I'm trying to do something, nothing I do seems to register with them.
2. I can wear them for 2-3 hours max before they become uncomfortable. For domestic travel in The States it's usually enough, but during longer flights I have to take them off and take a break.
