great price; the 5ah battery costs about this much alone. I missed the ymmv deal from HD years ago and currently have a greenworks

I got the 20-in (non commercial) this summer and love it. It is a bit heavy with battery but love not having to yank a pull cord have mixed fuel and the weight helps it glide through logs. More often than not I can heap up the bed of my rtv on a single battery.

Confirming - it is available in store locally. Not sure I need a chain saw but a 5ah battery sounds nice

I missed this a few months ago. Can anyone give a quick review on how well it performed?

I love mine. It didn't perform quite as well as the 50c.c. professional Stihl my friend has in terms of raw power, but is well capable of cutting medium sized trees. I've trimmed multiple ~30 ft tall sycamore laid down by bigger saws into smaller pieces with it without an issue. I do have 2 x 5 ah and 1 x 2 ah batteries for bigger jobs.

I have the 16 18, and just bought the 20 after doing a lot of research. imo the 18 is the worst one. Does anybody know if they replaced the crappy plastic way the 18 holds the bar? Mine is way too loose (when putting any force down, the bar wants to pop upward....) I don't have this issue with the 16, and the 20 has actual metal rods/bolts holding the bar from rotating up and down.

If you just need to cut very infrequently though, I've used the 18 for probably bucking 3-4 cords of wood before it had these more significant issues.

If anybody knows if I can fix it somehow, I'm all ears too.

Also, this is because of the 1-knob BS design. Most chainsaws I think, are 1 adjustment for chain, 1 for bar. You DO NOT want a loose dangly bar. And you want a chain that has a tiny bit (about 1 tooth) of give when you pull it or less. You do NOT want a very tight bar b/c friction and such. The problem with the 1-knob is you cannot independently control these two adjustments. And the design, makes it where the bar is very loose, when the chain is properly tight. And if you get the bar closer, the chain is way too tight.

Edit - actually researching this....it seems like it was a big issue that maybe they fixed with a different tensioner design? This might be less/not an issue in newer models of the 18 (I got the 18 about 4 years ago approx)

Good thing about a chainsaw at a price like this is it will more than pay for itself after just one fell tree in your yard. You can't even get someone to show up for this price

I had an issue with the 18" as well. In order to get the bar tight enough where it wouldn't wiggle up and down, I had to tighten it so much that the chain wouldn't move easily when the chain break was off (when sharpening the chain, for example, and you want to slide the chain down the bar to file the next set of links...it was ridiculously tight and hard to move). Not only does that burn out the motor quickly, but that pressure also caused the bar to bend slightly, resulting in curved cuts). The faulty chain tensioner in this model is a known issue by EGO. I submitted a warranty claim and received the 20" model because they apparently didn't have any 18" to give at the time. It's a better saw, but heavier...and I it needs a 6AH battery to get to the 3rd power level, which I don't have because my 18" saw came with the 5AH battery. So I can't use that saw to it's full potential. But I'm definitely happy to be rid of that tensioner.

How long ago did you get your original 18 that you had replaced? Just curious if the tensioner issue still exists on the latest ones or if it was an older model that the other guy mentioned. I normally use a gas saw, but I was looking for a backup and/or something to use when I don't want to run it at night or early in the morning. Also wondering if I should just get the 20.

I own a home with many trees both small and large in my backyard. I contemplated between getting this and a pole saw and ended up getting the pole saw which I already love. Even my neighbors borrowed it and liked it. I personally found polesaw to be more useful than chainsaw. But ofcourse it differs from person to person and what type trees and cutting one needs to do. I mostly only need to trim down branches and not cut huge trunks so polesaw works for me.
For those looking for chainsaw, this looks like a great deal. Generally been happy with most of my Ego products and dont forget to check with your electricity service provider on rebates for buying this which will save you even more. For instance my provider offers a $30 rebate for residential chainsaw

I bought it recently (June 25') and it was manufactured February of 25'. I know this is a good deal with the battery, but if you're in the market for the 18" I'd hold out until the new model comes out soon. I don't know for a fact that they took away the 1-knob tensioner, but it appears that way based on the lack of mention in the description. And the addition of the display screen seems to indicate they replicated the 20" model which doesn't have that system (has the typical nut and scrench system).

I went to two stores and they both told me that they wouldn't match their own website and still had at regular price
