I own 8 of these and they've been rock solid for a year. However, its an older model and this price is same as BF last year. It cannot do color while the newer version, the Q2 Pro can and is better.
One would think they should be clearing this model out at < $300 considering drops by their competitors.

Thanks, that's a very valid point and I completely agree. Still, as of now, this is the best deal you'll find for the QIDI Q1 Pro. Plus, it's on Amazon with fast two-day shipping

I still use my Qidi max and works great. It's crazy that these printers were $1400 on sale when I got that one and had significantly less features. But works great still and very easy to use.

I agree. $350 was the launch price special when I got mine. It's a solid printer. I have a plus4 to with ams, much cooler. I have an extra box I wish I could install on the q1. Too bad they never retro fit it and came out with the mini plus4 (q2).

is this the best bang for the buck for someone looking for a completely utilitarian entry level 3d printer with open source fw?

I just recently bought a flashforge adventurer 5m. after a couple weeks with it, I found myself wishing I had gotten the pro model for the enclosure. But open source firmware and higher temps to be able to use a wider range of filament materials would be ideal, which maintaining or increasing the print quality of the 5m. Anything else that fits the bill for me?
