Throwing them so they fly point first is an advanced technique. It's all about distance and rotation. If the knife hits with the handle first, step closer. If it hits with the point angled upward move farther back. Don't flick your wrist, let the weight of the knife create the spin. Holding the handle, it should only spin 1/2-1 1/2 times.

I always wondered, how do they throw these things and make sure the pointy end hits the thing you are aiming for? Like, when it's spinning throughout the air, how do you make sure the wrong end doesn't hit the target and the knife goes bouncing away? I guess that's why they made shurikens... to solve this problem. Or maybe you can throw like a knuckleball but with one of these things, so that there's no spin and you can gaurantee the pointy end hits the target. There aren't realy a whole lot of knuckle ballers out there though. Do they even teach this anymore? I guess the most popular pitch is the four seam fastball. Some might say that this has something to do with the height of the mounds these days. But you could hardly blame the extinction of an entire pitching style simply to the height of the mound, right?

These aren't terrible but they're not the best. If you want something more fun, get the combo set that includes the axes. It is also on sale. The axes take almost zero skill to stick so are much more fun to get started with and/or for casually throwing.
