Probably not, but I've never seen a Lutron switch die either.

As noted. I have never had one fail, so never had to test the warranty. I bought them in bulk off eBay to replace about 10+ switches a few years ago, and continue to buy and switch out my dumb switches on an ongoing basis when I get motivated. They are very reliable.

I have about 30 Caseta dimmers in my house - had them for probably about 6 years. I'm sure it's possible they can fail, but I've never had an issue with any of them. I bought every single one of them from eBay one at a time (other than the ones that came with the hot-deal starter pack that included the hub) because at the time at least, the regular Caseta dimmers retailed for $60 and I could consistently get them for $40-$45 shipped from eBay.

I can report one of mine went deep six. I will also report Lutron warranted the switch. Now you know. Smilie

I was on a market for a couple of them for the last month. No listings at $40. You're talking about Claro switches, while this is a Diva dimmer switch.
Lowest I've seen was $50+ from a seller with good reviews and a lot of sales. So getting one from reputable retailer with an easy return (as a safety measure) at $60 seems like a solid deal.

Amazon has these for 30% off for used - like new, for packages where Amazon Resale has stock. I got a more basic one for 61 before tax: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G5V6M6G

I literally picked up two on Tuesday for $84 with free shipping, this included both dimmers plus diva style pico-remotes. There are a few dimmers available right now for $45. If you are patient you can grab them cheaper.

Can confirm eBay has them $45 regularly brand new in packaging. However I heard those were at some point not directly compatible with home assistant (required to go through different hub and had some bugs with HA).Is that still the case?

Lutron's devices need their hub if you want to integrate them with HA via the Lutron HA integration - Lutron's devices can't be integrated directly with HA like a Zigbee or Z-Wave device can. The HA integration for Lutron is well supported in my experience, I haven't had any issue with using Lutron's Caseta or Diva products, including their Pico remotes.

Gotcha thank you. So hub is required but is well supported, noted.I have two places in the house with a strong desire for physical dimmer functionality and this is the only iot dimmer that has that.
