I had one of the older ones at one point maybe the 2, i really liked it, dropped it off my counter while drinking one too many times, I found myself still missing it when i got my ue hyperboom (which was better but not by a lot) I went with onyx studio 8 this time around since it's on sale for 100$ (hyperboom broke after like 4 years of treating it poorly)

Bass is great, for small apartments its solid, it'll get you a noise complaint at max volume.

Id get it more for aesthetics and having a nice speaker vs being the loudest or heaviest bass at this price, its obv not, it feels really good tho, switch, dials, and overall.

I understand it's all different but considering these are at similar price points, for plugged in operation what's good, Aura 4 or Acton 3? I'm looking at Onyx 8 as well at 99$

Probably the Aura from what I have seen, but I'd still go with the Acton. The Aura has 130 watts as opposed to 50 and 60 watts respectively for the Onyx and the Acton.
