Deciding between qm7k vs 8k.
I saw both on BB and either BB completely f'ed up the m7k settings , it looked so washed out.

TV will be in a living room which has lot of light. Would 8k be better than 7k?

There's lots of YouTube videos on this - but in general I think it's worth holding out for the 8. It's brighter, more contrast, better picture.

rtings is the first place I go for this type of comparison:

I really liked this guy's take on QM7K vs QM8K
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw8MIhu6GaY
it's always tough to tell what's getting lost in encoding or people's camera or maybe YouTube is doing to the video afterwards, but in a lot of those fast moving/gaming scenarios it really looks like a lot of detail gets washed out in the QM7 and it just doesn't look as good.

The Stop the FOMO guy always does great with these types of comparisons. He also compares both against other super high end TVs he's got like in this case the Sony BVM 3110. He typically says most people are not gonna see the difference between the QM7 and QM8 (in this case the QM7k vs QM8k)

he definitely knows what he's talking about and I agree with him that the QM7 looks fine until you see the QM8k right next to it, but I just feel like when it comes to TCL or Hisense, their flagships are so much less than the big brand names, it's worth the splurge to get their top of the line models; they just punch so far above their weight. You can always turn the brightness down on the QM8 if the room is dark, but you can't turn the brightness up on the QM7 above it's highest setting if it's daytime and you're dealing with tons of competing light.

Really wish Costco sold the higher end TCL. The 5 year warranty they include is nice to have with these lesser known brands.

99% of what you said is true. The only part people need to understand is how Bright it is. I have an Lg 70" that when I looked up stats its peak is about 600 nits about 5 years old. The 75" qm7k is peak around 3000nits while 75" 8k is peak 5000 nits. My point being a Majority of people are going to be thrilled with 3000nits unless they're techies and picky. Right now the 7k and 8k are only about $250 difference

Not lesser known at all. You sound like my brother who still thinks vizio is awesome ....but that was 10 years ago. TCL and Hisense are very well known and Respected now. Too many people are behind the times thinking only Samsung and Sony etc are the elites... not true at all. And they're way more costly

Bro is that you? My only issue with TCL and Hisense is that warranty support is basically nonexistent. At least with the mainstream brands you have a chance of getting a replacement or repair.

Vizio was never awesome
It occupied the same niche that TCL and Hisense do now....value for the dollar

Nah. The Vizio quantum 10 years ago was unreal. They suck now but don't hate on that one.
