How does this compare to the crappy Pioneer 43" tv that Best Buy sold last year for a similar price? I really hated the super sluggish Xumo software that it came with. I would much prefer Fire tv interface.

4k? wonder if this makes a good computer monitor. $130 is cheaper than a 27" 1440p (or 1080p) monitor w/ built-in speakers...

You will likely notice input lag, especially if used for gaming.

Thanks for the reminder. 60 hz is very noticeable for bigger monitors. It almost feels like 30hz . I'm looking for a 42 inch 120 hz tv/monitor for cheap

I've been looking for a cheap one for 10 years. They never give us one.

Direct lit LED and HDR should not be in the same spec sheet. I get that this is a $130 TV, but there's no way HDR will look as intended on this thing.

Agreed. Once you get used to 120Hz refresh rates you can never go back.

Unfortunately this is some hisense garbage - if something goes wrong, don't expect any warranty coverage.

Based on some negative reviews on Amazon and BB, probably best to save more for something better and go with more reliable models from other manufacturers. Toshiba was only good in the 90s.

isn't it crazy how deeply discounted these fire TV's are. It's like they can't sell them. I guess nobody wants a bozos spy device in their house.

I'm curious as well, I picked up a couple of Pioneers over the last few years. The one from last year has the Xumo software, which I'm not a fan of, but has a better picture over the older one I have with Fire TV. These are cheap tvs, perfect for a spare room or to throw up in a garage or something. As long as you don't set your expectations too high, they are really decent for the price. I may give this one a try.

Most people don't know this. They just see HDR and think better PQ, when that is far from the truth.
