I have these (in black). I got them 20 years ago. Other than a crushed tweeter dome (kids), they are good as new. Great speakers, rarely on sale, but often bundled with other items (e.g. electric pianos).

They are POWERED speakers, which means you can plug e.g. a phone into them and they'll amplify it, which is handy. No bluetooth, but you can plug a $5 bluetooth receiver into it and you have a nice pair of amplified power bluetooth speakers.

I've been needing some studio monitors for mixing music, and Im very tempted to get a pair. Are they worth it for this use? Is it likely that there will be better options come Black Friday?

Honestly I have no idea why the images generated for this slickdeals post have back pictures without XLR inputs, but if you open the product on Amazon they appear to have the correct photos with XLR inputs 🤔

Stop giving these people money, these are not remotely flat, they're only internally eq'ed, bad design, low quality internal dac/amp.

That's a picture of the back of the right monitor. The the left monitor has the XLR inputs and the amp. The right monitor is connected to the left monitor with speaker wires.

I assume you're talking about the HS5s? These (HS4) just came out about 2 years ago, I believe. They're smaller than the HS5s and have less frequency range but they sound good for their size.

Have the HS8s. They're amazing, I'm sure the 4s are great too. Went to guitar center to compare powered speakers, Yamahas are far superior to anything else they had. I was immediately convinced.

Received the product and it turns out to be B-Stock. Box looked ugly but product itself was in good condition (unused) but box has been opened before.

Received the speakers and was disappointed. Product was B-Stock and sound quality not as good as I thought. Box looked used but product itself was in flawless condition. Box seems to have been opened before. Should have been sold as warehouse product.
