• Contains 30 booster packs, which normally retails for $7 each or $210 total.
• Next cheapest price I could find for a booster box is $150.
• At $130+$5 shipping, you're paying $4.50 per pack.

Magic player here. I had, and might still get another box or two.

Trading money for cardboard aside, this was legit one of the best sets ever, fun to draft. Other sets that are just as fun are going for over $200. And they don't have these amazing characters I've been having fun with my whole life.

Lots of good treatment to final fantasy. I'm a lifelong player and fan, so owning these felt meaningful to me more than any other magic set.

Different strokes.

I know quite a few people who wouldn't touch MTG until this set came out, they now play multiple times a week and have a handful of non FF commander decks. They knew exactly what they were doing with releasing this set...

They over-printed the most-in-demand set ever in MTG and here we are. So many cards on ebay not selling and prices are slowly coming down on singles. I saw a PSA 10 graded Cloud Midgar Mercenary (non-foil) auction go for $27 last night. It probably cost nearly that much to get graded.

I bought some of these cards, and the last magic purchase I made was in the 90s. So they definitely hit with some people.

People who want to play the game and like collecting the cards. Not everyone is buying cards to sell them.

This is exactly what I didn't want to read lol

long time FF7/FF8 and MTG player in my formative years, $135 feels like a small price to pay. I've been playing commander here and there this past year too (!)

I might be one of those people. Saw them months ago and wanted to get the cards just because final fantasy is on them

Don't know if it would get me playing the game... Just really thinking of buying it because it's final fantasy branded

Spider-Man has been poorly received and is much less in demand, so the play booster boxes have been going for $100 at other stores. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy one at $130.

As fan of both FF and spider verse, and having not touched mtg since 2007, I will wait for booster boxes to drop even more muahaha

There are a couple big factors in play:

1) The initial batch of reprints has gone out. LGSs are getting full cases when they were out, and they often have to over order due to allocation issues.

2) Vivi Ornitier was banned in Standard. Pre-banning, it was an overpowered, archetype-defining card that was dominating Standard play. The regular printing had been spiking up to $200[a], was about $50 when EOE released in August, dropped to $31 from speculation that it would be banned by Nov 10th (when it was banned[b]), and is already down to sub-$25.

3) The new set, Avatar: The Last Airbender, has a prerelease this weekend and a full release the following week. EOE, while a really cool set, didn't have a pre-built fanbase or quite the chase cards. The Spider-man set was fun, but considered generally underwhelming. Avatar likely won't peak as hard as FF did, but it'll be close - and the FF card prices will sputter a bit.

As such, the EV and price on FF boxes is dropping. [c]

this is a pretty solid deal. the FF magic set has really held its value and the cheapest ive found elsewhere is 165-175 for this box. 135 is a pretty solid deal imo
