If you have a P1, you'll need to the purchase the upgrade kit to have all the functionality. This upgrade kit is usually included when you purchase the p1 combo that includes the AMS/AMS2. This is still a better deal than Bambu's (AMS only) Black Friday sale.

The upgrade kit is the power supply and hub, yes?

Is the AMS2 a worthwhile upgrade to an X1C/AMS combo?

yeah good deal for just the AMS 2 Pro (+ another $50 for the upgrade kit)... but for +$450 you get a whole P1S extra!

Correct, you may also need that 4 prong cable that goes from the hub to the bambu unit.

The Bambu Lab Official Discord server has a live stock checker for all the Micro Center stores, so if the sale continues beyond today, feel free to review the channel for stock history and such. Alternatively, you can go to this page (?storeid=029 is a hidden trick that trackers use for following in-store stock status on Micro Center by visiting just one page) and click on and scroll through the orange "Please Select Your Store" dropdown list to see all of the stores' current stock status:

So if you want to buy the printer, you're still better off with BambuLab BF sale.

I got the last one at Tustin. But they were out of the AMS 2 Pro Upgrade kit. And they raised the price to $70 on Amazon

You can run more than that even, with all the other AMS units other than the Lite. You cant run anything else if you run an AMS Lite. They even have a new buffer hub specifically for the A series, but you can also use the original P series buffer now too

It can dry filament 4x spools at a time if they all have the same temp needs, but not while printing, and because the spools turn, you have to secure the filament. Useful if you know the printer will have some downtime, but not so much if the printer is kept busy most of the time.

It can handle abrasive materials with little or no wear and tear on the unit itself (PTFE tubes will still wear)

It has more powerful motors.

I bought it for the abrasives handling and motor. I try to keep it busy, and have a food dehydrator, so the drying is just a nice bonus.

There is a Sunlu kit that can take the non-pro AMS and turn it into a filament dryer that can run while you print - https://www.sunlu.com/products/su...ro-for-you
