I love to talk about sports, tv, and movies and hopefully some other people do, too, so here's a thread for it. Coupon deals are welcome, too.

I ended up watching A Nearly Normal Family instead. The preview came on when I logged into Netflix and it looked good so I kept on watching. I finished the first episode and it has the potential to be really good.

Line of Duty was fabulous. Haven't watched Borgen - will keep it in mind. Finished Fisk last night. Not too sure what's up next - I've got Netflix for probably a month so focusing there. Probably either Black Rabbit or Sirens.
Just ran across this thread and when I saw your posts I thought of a show I watched last weekend on Netflix - Hostage. It's a limited series and a quick watch with five episodes. I enjoyed watching it - kept my interest.

I saw The Asset and The Monster of Florence on Netflix and both were excellent but Monster was extremely disturbing and had a very unsatisfying ending. I also saw A House of Dynamite. It was a movie instead of series and it was excellent. I wish that it had been a series because I would've liked to have seen a second season.

What a game last night. I missed it because I was binge watching The Asset and forgot about the game. 19 innings. Wow. Go Dodgers!!
I have The Asset on my list of shows to watch. Thanks for the reminder. I've heard from others that it is good.

Yes, it's very good. I'd also recommend Season 2 of Delhi Crime. A gang of thieves is violently murdering senior citizens. The murders are similar to an unsolved killing spree from 20 years ago. The pressure is on the police department to make an arrest even if the suspects might be innocent. Delhi is in total poverty. It's a very different world from the other crime shows on Netflix.

Here's a review of A Nearly Normal Family. I thought that it was similar to Adolescence but much better done (I'm not a fan of Adolescence at all). It explores a family torn apart by their daughter's rape and now she's on trial for killing her boyfriend. The actress who played the daughter was amazing but the father was boring and did some questionable things that I can't go into without it being a spoiler. A Nearly Normal Family is another show with a controversial ending that many people won't like. I'm still thinking about if I can recommend it but I did stay up late to finish watching it.

I found a hidden gem in Broadchurch. The first season was so emotionally draining that I need a break before I watch the next two seasons. I had no idea that it was going to be this good. A quiet British seaside town is rocked by the murder of a young boy. The two detectives on the case don't like each other and have no leads.

One more comment about Broadchurch. The acting was superb except for the 17-year-old boyfriend who looked like he was 30. I can overlook it because the show was so good but I really question the casting.

I saw this on the Front Page when I logged into SD. Dominos has a carryout special on a large 1-topping pizza for $6.70 if you use code 67. It's a Dodgers special and might only work in California (not sure). There's no upcharge on this offer. Usually, I have to pay a dollar more. I think that Dominos is included in the gift card deal this week at CVS. I'll have to check when I go to CVS later today. Sounds like a deal to me. $20 EB on a $100 Dominos gift card and $6.70 for a pizza. Hopefully, it all works out. I'll edit my post if it doesn't.

I know a few of us rely on hemp products. I received this from a business that I trust. At the end is a link to contact your rep. If you agree with allowing hemp products to remain legal, please consider reaching out.

Hi friends,

We're reaching out with something serious and time-sensitive.
Congress is currently considering adding last-minute hemp restrictions to a federal spending bill, and depending on how the final language is written, it could make up to 90% of hemp products illegal overnight.

This would decimate a $70 billion industry built on small farms, family-owned brands, and honest people who have followed every regulation since hemp was federally legalized in 2018.

Right now, versions of the bill range from extreme bans to highly restrictive regulations designed to hand control of the hemp market over to large corporations and investors. The way this is being rushed through (buried in a massive budget bill) is deeply concerning.

Hemp deserves thoughtful legislation of its own, backed by research, science, and open discussion — not last-minute political maneuvering. This is about more than products; it's about the future of American agriculture, wellness, and freedom of choice.

Here's How You Can Help...
1️⃣ Make your voice heard. It only takes a minute to tell your representatives to protect hemp and oppose harmful restrictions.

I dont know who here has Apple TV but for lighter fare, I have enjoyed Stick and Palm Royale. The latter has new eps coming out this month.

Hoping Spartacus: House of Ashur is good next month. If you havent yet seen the first three seasons in the Spartacus 'verse, it is excellent TV. Sex and violence, if you are sensitive to either of those stay away. But really excellent storytelling. I just did a rewatch in anticipation of Ashur and, damn, its got to be up there as a favorite for me. The behind the scenes stuff is super tragic. If you dont know, look up what happened to the main actor from season one. The eventual replacement had huge shoes to fill and did a great job.

Hearing that Welcome to Derry is great. Kinda holding off for cooler/bad weather so we can snuggle and watch.

Maybe I'm not in the mood for tv today. I've tried 10 shows but I can't find anything that I want to watch. They weren't all bad. I just wasn't interested. I have to make a decision right away. I don't want to spend 3 hours watching something that I'm going to end up dumping. Why does Netflix make so many bad shows? They'd be better off with less shows and higher quality.

One of shows I tried to watch was the one about Garfield. I didn't realize that Tom from Succession was the killer. I wonder why they didn't continue on with Succession. They had a lot of possibilities. Burn Notice would've been another great spin-off with Bruce Campbell as Sam Axe. I absolutely loved Burn Notice. It was one of my favorite tv shows of all-time. That last episode with Sharon Gless. OMG I cried.
